PCI’s Medical Office Assistant Program will prepare you to:
- Process insurance claims
- Perform medical coding & billing procedures
- Maintain medical records/collections
- Perform front office management procedures
- Perform collection procedures
Medical Office Assistant Training Curriculum
Our Medical Office Assistant program combines lectures with practical hands-on exercises in our computer lab.
In The Classroom
Under the guidance of instructors with experience in the field, you’ll train in a simulated medical office environment and learn how to use EHR procedures, manage medical records, procedural codes for billing purposes, basic medical terminology, first aid, and CPR.
Practical Training
After completing four months (400 hours) of classroom training, you’ll begin applying the skills you’ve learned in a real-world setting. A 200-hour externship will provide you with the opportunity to perform administrative procedures under the supervision of qualified personnel in a medical office, clinic, lab, or hospital setting.

The job outlook for Medical Office Assistants is projected to grow by 9% from 2018 to 2028- much faster than the average for all occupations- as the aging baby-boomer population will require more medical services as they become eligible for Medicare and Social Security.1
